Happy New Year! We’re now in 2014 and looking forward to all it has to offer. Much of its offerings have to do with the effort we put into making things happen. Most of us wish things would just magically appear or change, but alas, the truth is that we need to facilitate great new things and opportunities.
Pantone announced about a month ago that the color of 2014 is Radiant Orchid, which I reported on when they made the announcement. Radiant Orchid is of course a shade of purple. It has fuchsia, purple and pink undertones which indicates it’s a cool shade, which will look the best on cool skin tones. If you have warm skin tones, you can find a shade of purple with yellow/gold undertones that will do better with your skin, eyes and hair.
Here are some examples of ways to wear Radiant Orchid.
This tweed sheath dress is perfect for work and beyond. The black side panels slim you and the purple draws attention to a slimmer mid-silhouette. For winter, I’d pair it with a cardigan or blazer and wear it with tights. Finish it off with stylish boots or pumps and you’re set.
Our next Radiant Orchid option is this metallic tweed jacket. It’s entirely modern and ready for so many outfit options. You can dress it up for work or dress it down with jeans for the weekend. It has quality seaming details which really adds to the rich look of it. Pair it with other fun colors to really pop against all of the winter black.
Next is a pair of suede purple pumps in a very classic style that you will be able to wear this year and for years to come (if you take care of the suede). Make sure before you wear them anywhere that you spray with suede spray in multiple layers. Once suede gets wet, it’s pretty much done in the looks department. You can wear these now and in spring.
This cashmere very light weight scarf is in a warmer shade that works great on my warm tone friends. One of my clients, Shannon (she’s major in social media so I don’t think she’ll mind if I mention her), will look beautiful in this shade because she’s an Autumn color season. All of you warm tone beauties will also look stunning in this shade and you’ll get a lot of use from it.
Last but not least, I’d be remiss not to show an accessory for you to rock. These natural stone agate earrings are beautiful and interesting. You will definitely get compliments from them. They will look great with any of the other radiant orchid pieces shown in this post. Since these are made from stone (the earth), they won’t go out of style and you’ll be able to wear them for years.
How do you plan to rock Radiant Orchid this year? Make your great 2014 happen!
