Pantone 2014 Color of the Year is Radiant Orchid 18-3224

Yesterday Pantone announced the 2014 color of the year is Radiant Orchid 18-3224. It’s made up of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones. Pantone says that Radiant Orchid is “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”

I’m kind of surprised it’s a color still somewhat in the cool family. I thought they would have chosen a very warm color after having Emerald be the color for this year.

I have always liked orchid and look forward to seeing it everywhere next year. I’m happy to add it to my wardrobe and will look for some trendy accessories to add splashes of orchid to a variety of looks.
