This spring, one of the trends is wide leg pants. This is personally my favorite trend for several reasons: the first is that they look great on any body type and shape from a petite, size zero, to a tall plus size. If you’re too thin for your liking, the wider silhouette gives you the illusion of greater mass. On the opposite side, if your hips or legs are larger than you wish (which is another personal reason I love this trend), the wide silhouette gives you a sleek, straight line that elongates you. In other words, the eye sees a straight, slim line from waist to floor. It doesn’t stop at the hips or legs and see extra width.

How can this work for everyone? It’s an illusion that the eye believes. Awesome!

One caveat: with so much volume on bottom, you need to wear less on top. Wear a more form fitting top and if you’re wearing a jacket, whether suit or casual, make sure it’s short and fits your body. If you wear a lot of volume on top and bottom, you’ll get lost in all of it and look frumpy.

Since wide leg pants are really a classic, even though they’re being called a trend this spring, feel free to spend more money on a couple of high quality, beautiful pairs which will give you many seasons of looking great.
